Master in Land Administration
The land is the basis for meeting the sustainable development agenda 2030. For this, an effective land administration that provides secure tenure, efficient land market, supports in land use planning land management including land development is required. Therefore, Land Administration is a discipline that integrates various land issues from different disciplines such as legal, social, economic, technical, planning, management, etc.
At the global level, less than a quarter of the world’s countries maintain a complete land administration system based upon geo-information management. At the local level, for instance, in the context of Nepal, the effective land administration system with the use of appropriate geo-information tools becomes a dire need because the country is in the transition phase of federalism. Therefore, the strengthening of the Land Administration system is on the high agenda of the Nepal government. A sufficient number of efficient land professionals is required in order to fulfill the mission of the federalist Nation.
Our course provides the participants with the knowledge and skills that are required to design and apply responsible land administration solutions in the current scenario of fast raising technologies to address real-life challenges. This course is designed within the broad framework of land management and its administration with considerable emphasis on geo-spatial technologies and geo-information management.
“Are you a mid-career professional interested to deal with any type of land-related issues in their professional work? Then this course is definitely suitable for you”

In the third semester, the students will assess the problem in their subject domain under ‘Problem Assessment Project’ which is a 9 credits hour course. The project component will be of approximately 3-month (full-time) duration, including the time for continuous evaluation of work of student and submission and evaluation final report and result. The student should be in consistent contact with the supervisor throughout the period. In addition, an interdisciplinary team of students will be encouraged to perform problem assessment, with each student mainly aiming problem solving specific/relevant to the field of study in cooperation with other students. The project component theme could be one of the following

The thesis, in general, will be in relation to the outcome of the problem assessment project. It proposes solutions to the identified problem and validates/invalidates the hypothesis. The thesis would be of 5-month full-time duration, including time for final thesis submission. The 5-month full-time work, however, will be distributed into 7 months.
Two courses in the third semester are referred to as ‘Prescribed Course’. These courses are prescribed by the project/thesis supervisor, endorsed by the department. Courses those are more useful for thesis research. Guided the requiring specific knowledge for project/thesis (guided by the supervisor or team of supervisors) can also be done. Modular/seminar-type courses as stated above related to project or thesis work can be one of the prescribed courses. The aim is to have one guided course and one modular/seminar-type course.
