Dr. Herb is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Calvin College, Grand Rapids, MI, USA. He finished his Ph.D in Physical Chemistry from University of Wisconsin Madison in 1998. He was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Sydney, Australia from Dec. 1998 to Aug. 2000. From Aug. 2005-Aug. 2009, he was an assistant professor at the department of chemistry and Mallinson Institute of Science Education, Western Michigan University.
He teaches courses on general chemistry and physical chemistry including the laboratory instruction. He has taught specialized courses for Elementary educators, history of science education, Introduction to polymers, colloids and surfaces, molecular simulation, world energy production and global climate change. He has published several research papers in peer reviewed journals and also served as reviewer for many books related to his field of expertise.
Dr. Herb will be at Kathmandu University for seven months starting from January 2015. In addition to teaching at the University, he will be developing modules for active learning in chemistry that can be disseminated through workshop with college and high school faculty from our region.
