Career Guidance Forum Organized by Department of Pharmacy
Department of Pharmacy organized a , first phase of the project, Career Guidance Forum and My Life Road-Map Contest, on January 8 & 9, 2015, at CV Raman Main Auditorium, Kathmandu University. The project is supported by National Research Foundation of Korea. This forum was targeted mainly for third and fourth year BPharm students to guide them through immense career options after graduation. Eminent resource persons who have made remarkable contribution in the development of pharmacy profession in Nepal were invited.
First speaker of the program, Mr. Bal Krishna Khakurel, Director General, Department of Drug Administration provided relevant information on current policy and regulatory frameworkMr. Bhupendra Bdr Thapa, Pharmaceutical Consultant & also one of our visiting professors, gave stimulating talk to the audience regarding choosing career options. Mr. Umesh Lal Shrestha, Managing Director, Quest Pharmaceuticals. Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Jayabir Karmacharya, Manager of Factory Operation, Omnica Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., discussed on scope, challenges and opportunities for the graduates in pharmaceutical industries. Mr. Amar Mahato, Strategist, National Health Care Pvt. Ltd. was there in the forum to discuss with students on the scope in marketing sector.
Prof. Dr. Dharma Prashad Khanal, Head, Department of Pharmacy, Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences talked on the opportunities in research areas mainly in medicinal plants. Mr. Dhirendra Kumar Shah from Fleur Himalayan Pvt. Ltd. also discussed on the need of herbal drug research in our country.
Mr. Chain Kumar Bajracharya, Pharmacy In-charge, Kathmandu Model Hospital, and Mr. Babu Ram Adhikari, Pharmacy Manager, Grande International Hospital gave very good insight of hospital pharmacy profession in the country and provided rich information on scope and challenges for graduates in this sector.
