Renowned humanitarian Mr. Krishna K.C. has established “Dirgha and Kausalya GC Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund” at Kathmandu University. The fund was established in memory of Mr. K.C.'s grandmother, Dirgha Kumari GC, and his mother, Kausalya Kumari GC, who were the guiding lights that provided him with unwavering support to pursue his dreams.
Mr. KC also expressed his sincere gratitude to all the kind donors who contributed to his education by providing him with scholarships during various phases of his student life, including the Asian Development Bank, Tribhuvan University Institute of Education, and United Mission to Nepal. His development as a credible professional was aided by their support and this inspired him to start an endowment fund at Kathmandu University and keep the tradition of scholarships alive. He hopes that the endowment fund will be his contribution, in a small way, to the public policy reforms and institutionalization of the rule of law in Nepal, which he believes is critical for the development of his native land.
The Dirgha and Kausalya GC Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund has a total amount of NPR 1,00,00,000 (Rupees One Crore Only). The proceeds from the fund will be utilized to provide need-based scholarships to deserving candidates with special consideration for those belonging to needy, underprivileged, and rural backgrounds, and families with educational disadvantages. The scholarships will be provided to students pursuing integrated Economics Management and Law Program at Kathmandu University School of Law or Master of Public Policy and Management at Kathmandu University School of Management.
The establishment of the Dirgha and Kausalya GC Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund at Kathmandu University is an example of how education and philanthropy can work hand-in-hand to create positive change in society. Kathmandu University family is grateful for the generous donation and hopes that the endowment fund will encourage individuals and organizations to come forward and contribute towards education in Nepal, thereby enabling more students to pursue their academic goals. The University recognizes the pressing need to increase access to higher education to students from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds and the scholarship fund will provide much-needed financial assistance to the deserving candidates.
