Visit of Hon’l Land Reform Minister at KU
On 16th of March 2012, the Workshop “Action plan for the Implementation of recommendations given by High Level Land Reform Commission, 2065(chaired by Hon'ble Haribol Gajurel) and High Level Commission for Scientific Land Reform, 2067 (chaired by Mr. Ghanendra Basnet)” organized by Ministry of Land Reform and management with support from COLARP, OXFAM, and CSRC. The workshop was inaugurated by the Minister for Land Reform and Management, Hon'ble Bhim Prasad Gautam. In the Workshop State Minister for Land Reform and Management Hon'ble Jwala Kumari Sah, VC of KU, Prof. Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma, Secretary of Ministry of Land Reform and Management Mr. Dinesh Hari Adhikari, other high level officials from MoLRM and representatives from different NGO including the supporting organization were present.
In the opening session of the Workshop, Vice chancellor highlighted the importance of University to observe the societal requirement and develop the human resources to serve the national need. In this regards, the vice chancellor gave emphasis regarding the establishment of Geomatics Engineering which was started as per the request from the Ministry of Land Reform and Management and conducted with mutual collaboration. Furthermore, he highlighted the partnership with Faculty of Geoinformation and science observation (ITC), University of Twente for competent human resource development in the land sector in near future.
On the same day, The Hon'ble Minister, Hon'ble state Minister, and other participants of the workshop visited Kathmandu University. Dean of the School of Engineering Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa extended warm welcome to the distinguished guests. Mrs. Reshma Shrestha (Geomatics Program Coordinator (KU)) hilighted the activities conducted in the land sector at KU whereas Mr. Janak Raj Joshi (Geomatics Program Coordinator /Director LMTC) added the collboration mechanism between KU and LMTC . In his remarks during the visit to KU, Hon' Minister appreciated the contributions of KU in developing human resources required in land sector as per the national need.
