CALL for CONSULTANT

Kathmandu University-Integrated Rural Development Project (KU-IRDP) is a project funded by the government of the Republic of Korea. It is jointly managed by Kathmandu University (KU) Nepal and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Korea. Kathmandu University has formally established Nepal Technology Innovation Center (NTIC) as an entity in Nepal as a major milestone of “Integrated Rural Development of Nepal through Strengthening Research and Development capacity of Kathmandu University."

The main objectives of IRDP/NTIC are:

1. Contribute for integrated rural development of Nepal by strengthening research and development capacity of Kathmandu University.
2. Promote technology innovation for improving quality of life and income status of people in rural communities in Nepal mainly in the fields of Agriculture & Rural Development, Alternative and Renewable Energy and Health related Livelihood.

Research and Business Development program is one of the major components of IRDP/NTIC. The main mission/aim is to serve as a research and business development platform of Nepal through relevant operation/ support programs. The main scope will be to serve research and business development activities that can directly contribute to the commercial purposes and commercialization of the private sector in order to differentiate it from the various research institutes that carry out the basic research field.

The main objectives of R & BD are:

• To support R&BD in (Agriculture, Renewable and Health related livelihood) and other possible areas through centrally run laboratories and rural research and development programs for the sustainability of NTIC.
• To serve as a research and development platform of Nepal through relevant operational/support programs.
• To examine the feasibility of projects from the initial stage, conduct research in stages.
• Establish and adjust the direction at each stage to enable commercialization. (As the main scope will be research and development activities that can directly contribute to commercial purposes and commercialization of the private sector in order to differentiate it from the various research institutes that carry out the basic research field.)

With the main objective to develop the baseline survey (outside KU), methodology and questionnaire to collect the related information, statistical analysis and to assist NTIC researchers on data collection, analysis, and to access the current need and requirement of the project for the sustainability of the NTIC the Research and Business Development Program hereby calls for an application for a consultant from interested, qualified and committed candidates in the area of:

1. Agriculture and Rural Development
2. Alternative and Renewable Energy
3. Health Related Livelihood
