Kathmandu University (KU) and Russian Centre of Science & Culture organized ‘Karelian Fascination’ the Russian ball dance show at the CV Raman Auditorium, Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel on February 6, 2013. The program was presented by the famous Dance Ensemble “Rhythm” from the Republic of Karelia of the Russian Federation.
, HoD of Department of Languages and Mass Communication started the program with its highlights. Prof. Bhadra man Tuladhar gave his welcome and thank you speech in the beginning. A short film about the Republic of Karelia, which is known for its carefully preserved folk traditions, natural beauty and unique spirits was screened. The audience witnessed the beauty of ‘Kizhi’, an island of Karelia, through the short film.
Founder vice chancellor of KU Prof. Suresh Raj Sharma, Madame Sharma, deputy director of Russian Centre of Science & Culture Anastasia Khokhlova along with Faculty members, Students and Staff of KU were present in the performance. In the program, Prof. Ramesh Maskey sang a Nepali and two Russian songs.
Prof. Bhadra Man Tuladhar, the Registrar gave souvenirs to all performers of Kerelian Fascination. Two books of Russian Literature translated into Nepali by KU Professor Dr. Jangab Chauhan were presented as gift to the leader of the ensemble, Olga Zaporozhets.
