Prof. Dr. Sharma participated in the First University President's Forum

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma has
participated in the First University Presidents’ Forum on Climate
Change & Sustainable Development in Asia & Africa held on 17 August
2009 at Korea University,
Seoul, South Korea. The chief guest of the
forum UN
General Secretary his Excellency Ban Ki-moon has delivered a special
keynote speech which was very timely and remarkable on climate change issues
and urges to unite for pushing up various issues from bottom-up from the
University President’ side and he will try from top-bottom approach to fight
with negative impacts of various climate change issues. The Presidents also
signed the Seoul Declaration on Climate Change and Sustainable Development in
Asia and Africa during the First University
President Forum. They also agreed to form a network for education and research
on climate change and sustainable development called Asia-Africa Education and
Research Network (AA-ERNet). Dr. Rijan Bhakta Kayastha from the Department of
Environmental Science and Engineering also participated in the forum.
