Ph.D. Opportunities in Aquatic Ecology

at the School of Science

The Norad PhD studentships include university fees and a stipend. The academic requirement for entry is 17 years of academic background with a minimum of Grade B or 3.0 CGPA or 50% marks at the Masters level. Those having 16 years of academic background shall be required to take two years of M.Phil.

The Norad PhD studentships within this discipline include diverse training opportunities in all aspects of research imparted by Aquatic Ecology Centre, KU School of Science through highly experienced faculty and professionals from Kathmandu University; Norwegian University of Science & Technology (NTNU); Delhi University, Bishwa Bharati University (India); Nepal agricultural Research Council, Fisheries Research Division in Godavari, Begnas and Kali Gandaki; Directorate of Fisheries and Development (Nepal), and SWECO Groner AS, Norway.

Potential PhD students should fill an application form available at the Office of Dean in School of Science, Dhulikhel, Kavre with a Concept Paper, full CV, relevant certificates/transcripts, a covering letter from the employer ensuring re-employment and the contact details of two referees. A receipt of sum of Rs. 1000/- has to be attached to the application form deposited to Kathmandu University account maintained at Nepal Investment Bank Limited.

Studentships will commence wef. October 2012.

Students willing to undertake Ph.D. in Environmental Science self funded or other sources may also apply fulfilling the criteria mentioned above. This category of students are advised to ensure source of funding, specify fulltime or part time and the name of the relevant supervisor with adequate publications in the students field of interest from any departments under the School of Science.
