Orientation Program of International Master Degree Programs
mppoes’ and ‘meepe’ held
The orientation program for Master Program in Planning and Operation of Energy Systems (MPPOES) Second batch (2012-2013) and Master of Engineering in Electrical Power Engineering (MEEPE) fifth batch (2011-2013) concluded on February 1, 2012. Professor Dr. Bhola Thapa, Dean of School of Engineering, Project Coordinators Dr. Hari Prasad Neopane (EnPe) and Mr. Brijesh Adhikary (MEEPE), Heads and coordinators from the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering formally welcomed the students at Kathmandu University. These graduate programs are run under the EnPe Program in collaboration with Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Dr. Bim Prasad Shrestha welcomed the students on behalf of Department of Mechanical Engineering and highlighted on the various different aspects of MPPOES program. Mr. Brijesh Adhikary also welcomed the students on behalf of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and shed light on MEEPE program. Mr. Diwakar Bhujel and Dr. Neopane explained the evaluation system for these programs while Mr. Basanta Raj Pokharel gave information on the social welfare and logistics aspects. Finally, Professor Thapa highlighted the Engineering education at Kathmandu University, benefits of interdisciplinary graduate level courses, role of Engineers and applications of engineering education for the benefit of the society. He encouraged all the students for making maximum use of the facilities at Kathmandu University to get knowledge in their respective areas make their stay meaningful and joyful.
The MEEPE students joined Kathmandu University after having completed their first semester at NTNU,Norway and will continue rest of their semesters at Kathmandu University. The MPPOES students will spend their third semester at NTNU, Norway. Each program has ten students including the students from Nepal and abroad.
