Monday, 18th August 2014 (Bhadra 2nd, 2071 BS).Kathmandu University Technical Training Center (KU TTC) has been inaugurated jointly by Minister of Education Hon'ble Mrs. Chitralekha Yadav and Ambassador of Republic of Korea H.E. Choe, Yong-Jin amid a function organized jointly by Kathmandu University and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Dhulikhel of Kavre. KU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha, representatives from KOICA, government officials from Ministries, KU officials, students and local people from Kavre community were also present in the function. The key objective of the newly established training center is to provide skill- oriented quality training to the under-privileged and unemployed youth so as to produce skilled and technical workforce in Nepal. From early June of 2014, KU TTC has already started its pilot training programs of duration ranging from 3 month to 1 year in the field of Automobile, Carpentry, Welding and Machining. The government of Republic of Korea provided the total grant amount of US Dollar 3.5 million through KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) and KU has contributed US$ 1.1 million for the establishment of this training center. Total cost of this project reached US$ 4.6 million. During the project period, from June 2012 to September 2013, KU TTC trainers from Kathmandu University joined 3 month training programs to Korea for the technical training for each course. In 2014, five Korean experts had arrived Nepal to give ToT trainings (Training of Trainers) to the KU TTC instructors at the real field.
