The School of Engineering (SoE), KU, and Health Informatics Society of Sri Lanka (HISSL) signed an MoU on 14 October 2015 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in order to promote health informatics education in Nepal. The signing took place during the visit of Dr. Rabindra Bista to Cinnamon Grand where he participated in eHealth Asia 2015 International Conference.
The main areas of collaborations are teaching, research and publication in the domain of health informatics, exchange of research and other academic resources, mutually explore funding opportunities for human resource development and eHealth implementation, supervision of postgraduate projects, and jointly share expertise and research finding to improve eHealth in both countries.
Prof. Dr. Vajira Dissanayake, the President of HISSL, and Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, the Dean of SOE, signed the MoU for and on behalf of Health Informatics Society of Sri Lanka and SoE, KU, respectively. The agreement was witnessed by Dr. Alvin Marcelo, the President of Asia eHealth Information Network.
Dr. Rabindra Bista, Asst. Professor in the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, and Dr. Roshan Hewapathirana, the Chief Executive Officer of HISSL, are coordinators for respective parties.
