Kathmandu University (KU) and Reiyukai Eiko Masunaga Eye Hospital (REMEH) have officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in the fields of medical education and research. Established in 1991, KU has gained global recognition for its excellence in research and education across various disciplines. On the other hand, REMEH, founded in 2007, is committed to eliminating curable or avoidable blindness and providing high-quality eye care services.

The MoU outlines key areas of cooperation, including joint initiatives for education, research, and training in medicine and related disciplines. Both parties will undertake collaborative research projects, participate in each other's academic programs, and organize joint training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of students and staff. The agreement is set to be effective for five years, with provisions for termination by either party with a six-month notice.

Dr. Manoj Humagain, Dean of KU School of Medical Sciences, and Mr. Madhu Acharya, Chairman of REMEH, will act as focal persons to facilitate effective communication and coordination between the two institutions. The MoU emphasizes the preservation of intellectual property rights and confidentiality, with provisions for amendments to be made in writing and agreed upon by both parties.

This collaboration signifies a shared commitment to advancing medical education, research, and healthcare services in Nepal, bringing together the strengths of KU and REMEH for the betterment of the community.
