In a significant development for the advancement of Ayurveda medicine education and research, Kathmandu University (KU) and Ayurveda Hospital, Nardevi, Kathmandu, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement, signed by Prof. Achyut Wagle, Ph.D., Registrar of Kathmandu University, and Dr. Shyam Babu Yadav, Director of Ayurveda Hospital, lays the groundwork for collaborative initiatives aimed at enhancing education, research, and training in Ayurveda medicine and related disciplines.

Established in 2048 B.S., Kathmandu University has garnered international recognition for its excellence in research, teaching, and collaborative activities across various disciplines. Ayurveda Hospital, established in 1974 by B.S., specializes in Ayurveda medicine treatment, providing cost-efficient, accessible, and impactful healthcare services in Nepal. The MoU signifies a shared commitment between the institutions to foster enhanced cooperation, aiming to address the current and future needs of the medical and health sciences sector in the country.

The key provisions of the MoU include joint research projects, collaboration on academic programs, and the development of postgraduate-level courses in Ayurveda, Yoga, and traditional medicine. The agreement also outlines the commitment of both parties to organize joint training programs, share academic information, and uphold intellectual property rights and confidentiality.

The MoU, effective upon signing, will remain for 5 years. The focal persons designated for coordination between the institutions are Mr. Ananta Risal, Convenor, Yogic Science and Well-being, School of Arts from KU, and Dr. Baikuntha Subedi from Nardevi Ayurveda Hospital. The agreement emphasizes the preservation of intellectual property rights and allows for amendments to be made in writing and agreed upon by both parties, ensuring flexibility for future collaboration.

This strategic partnership is poised to elevate the field of Ayurveda medicine and contribute to the academic and healthcare landscape in Nepal and beyond.
