KU Concluded 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies (ICSET’12)
Kathmandu University, School of Engineering organized an International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies ICSET’12 in association with the IEEE Singapore on 24-26 September 2012 in Kathmandu.Inaugurating the program Rt. Hon’ble Vice President Mr. Paramananda Jha said that Sustainable Energy is the need of the nation. He opined that the present conference would be an opportunity to Nepalese community to work together with the international communities in the field. From Special Guest, Prof. Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University welcomed the delegates and expressed that human civilization could not be marched ahead in the absence of energy. Due to massive use of petroleum products, and its dependency and pollution, is becoming a vital problem of the civilization. Natural resources like biogas, solar energy and hydro-energy are alternative energies and to consume these resources is essential for sustainable development, Dr. Sharma said. General chairperson of the seminar Mr. Brijesh Adhikary welcomed the participants and the dignitary guests and highlighted the need and objective of the program. The conference provide a forum to bring professional, individuals and experts in the energy sector, manufacturing companies, industries, research institution, educational bodies together to share, interact and exchange the ideas and information related to sustainable energy technologies. In the conference, four tutorials and 80 technical papers were presented from the authors representing from 20 countries across the globe. Seven papers were from Nepalese researchers and 26 from Indians and rest papers were contributed from Sri Lanka, Thailand, Taiwan, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Norway, New Zealand, USA, and UK and others. The themes of the presentations were varies like Energy Market, Management and Economics; Off-Grid Isolated Energy System and Other Sustainable Energy Resources and Systems.Kathmandu conference is the third series of ICSET that held every two years in different locations. First conference was held in Singapore in 2008 and the second was held at Kandy, Sri Lanka in 2010.
