Kathmandu University launches Higher Education Bridge Initiative (HEBI)
On the occasion of National Education Day 2081, Kathmandu University (KU) organized a program to mark the launch of Higher Education Bridge Initiative (HEBI) on September 18, 2024. Organized by the Academia-Industry Cooperation, KU, the program brought together officials from the university and representatives of local government to discuss the challenges facing higher education as well as the possibilities of community development and economic progress.
During this program, engineers and skilled manpower from various fields, who have been appointed through the Kathmandu University Employment Promotion Program and assigned to municipalities and rural municipalities across Kavre District to assist with education reform and resource mobilization were introduced. Apart from that, an engineer has also been assigned to work in Hariharpur Gadhi Rural Municipality in Sindhuli District. In the course of their employment, they will work with the local level government for one year and help in their economic prosperity through improvement in education of community schools, as well as through research and discovery.
In line with this initiative, KU has announced to offer scholarships to one student from each of the 13 municipalities and rural municipalities within Kavre District. The scholarship covers various available undergraduate programs of the current academic year at KU. The concerned municipalities and rural municipalities have been requested to recommend one student each for the scholarship. Eligible candidates are requested to communicate and coordinate with their respective municipalities and rural municipalities to be selected for the scholarship.
