Dhulikhel, Nepal, June 3, 2024 — Kathmandu University (KU) and Cimex Inc. Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor of BYD vehicles in Nepal, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing the academic and career opportunities for students of KU. The agreement was signed by Prof. Manish Pokharel, Dean of the School of Engineering at KU, and Sahil Shrestha, CEO of Cimex Inc. Pvt. Ltd.
This partnership will facilitate a series of collaborative initiatives including guest lectures, workshops, and seminars by personnel from BYD headquarters. Cimex will also offer internship opportunities at BYD's facilities in Nepal and India, providing KU students with practical learning experiences. Additionally, BYD will supply vehicle tools to KU for research and development purposes, contributing to sustainability and efficiency studies.
Under the MoU, KU will inform students of job openings at Cimex and support their applications. Cimex commits to providing job placements, training, and monthly remuneration to successful candidates.
The agreement emphasizes confidentiality and the secure handling of sensitive information shared between the parties. It will remain effective until either party issues a written notice for termination, with a one-month notice period required.
The MoU is governed by the Contract Act and laws of Nepal and stipulates that any amendments must be in writing and signed by authorized representatives of both parties.
Witnesses to the signing were Sushil Tandukar, Assistant General Manager at Cimex, and Prof. Daniel Tuladhar, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KU.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards integrating academic excellence with industry expertise, benefiting both KU students and Cimex Inc. Pvt. Ltd.
