The model classroom was established by Leading University Project for International Cooperation (LUPIC), a project of Kathmandu University (KU) in collaboration with Chinju National University of Education (CUE), funded by the National Research Foundation (NSF), South Korea and CUE was inaugurated on October 16, 2022. The project aims to improve Kathmandu University's Education to strengthen basic education capabilities and foster opportunities for women's education. LUPIC project was established with the objective of joint development of curriculum and textbooks, and the establishment of an education support center such as model classrooms, to provide support for faculty-employee-student exchange as well as for the training of local teachers in Nepal and volunteer education for CUE students.
In the inauguration program officials from Kathmandu University, officials from Lumbini Technological University, Project Lead from South Korea, LUPIC team members from Nepal and others were present in online mode.
The opening remarks were presented by Prof. Dr. Manish Pokharel, the Dean of the School of Engineering as well as the project lead from Nepal. The model classroom features interactive displays for teaching-learning, a YouTube Studio as well as a computer lab with the latest technologies and software. Assist. Prof. Dr. Sushil Shrestha, a Department of Computer Science and Engineering and LUPIC team member, explained the working modality of the model classroom as well as the features of the studio and lab.
Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, Vice Chancellor also presented his remarks, where he thanked the donor institutions as well as the project members for bringing this state of art model classroom and lab to Kathmandu University. He also advised the team members to utilize this classroom optimally as well as think about its sustainability and how to further take it to the next level.
The closing remarks was provided by Prof. Dr. Laxman Gnawali, a member of the LUPIC project.
