On June 21, 2023 - The 9th International Yoga Day was marked by a momentous event as the Honorable Health and Population Minister, Mr. Mohan Bahadur Basnet, inaugurated the Kathmandu University Yoga and Nature Cure Hospital ( KU- YNCH). The esteemed ceremony was organized by Kathmandu University at Panauti Chaukot in the Kavrepalanchok district.

Dignitaries including provincial ministers, heads of local bodies in Kavrepalanchok district, deputy heads and people's representatives, heads of government offices in the district, local communities, journalists, and members of the university family graced the program with their presence.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, delivered a warm welcome speech, while Prof. Ananta Gopal Risal shed light on the Bachelor of Yogic Science and Wellbeing program, which is being conducted in collaboration with the Kathmandu University Yoga and Nature Cure Hospital ( KU- YNCH), as well as the School of Medical Sciences and School of Arts.

Mr. Ram Sharan Bhandari, the head of Panauti Municipality, shared his views during the program, expressing his thoughts on the initiative. Furthermore, Dean Ms. Ekku Maya Pun conveyed the vote of thanks.

Notably, Kathmandu University has developed a comprehensive four-year course in the field of Yogic Science and Well-Being, which has commenced its academic journey. Currently, there are 11 students enrolled in the program, and admissions for the upcoming academic year are now open. The Kathmandu University Yoga and Nature Cure Hospital ( KU- YNCH), approved by the Panauti Municipality, is equipped with 15 beds to facilitate patient care. Kathmandu University is actively devising various strategies to promote yoga, Ayurveda, and naturopathy on an international scale, aiming to extend its reach beyond national borders.
