EC Appoints Dr. Bipin Adhikari the Dean of School of Law
The Executive Committee appointed Dr. Bipin Adhikari the Dean of the newly established School of Law, on 25 December 2013.
The Kathmandu University School of Law (KUSL) is the latest addition to the Schools of national and international standing in the University. As
a flagship project committed towards providing world-class Legal Education to a diverse and talented body of Nepalese students, KUSL is envisioned to further enhance the University’s reputation as the premier institution of higher learning in Nepal and the region.
has a Ph.D. in Law from Delhi University, and has established himself as the country’s leading constitutional jurist. Prior to his appointment in KU, he headed Nepal Consulting Lawyers Inc. and Nepal Constitution Foundation (NCF), organizations engaged with the constitution building process in Nepal. Dr. Adhikari also has expertise in the area of institution building, human rights, access to justice, legal reforms, governance law and democratization process. He has authored many books, articles and commentaries focusing on themes such as Constitutional Law, Human Rights and Public Policy Analysis.
Dr. Adhikari served in legal, judicial and Human Rights sectors for nine years in Nepal and abroad representing United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and the UN peacekeeping missions. KUSL is launching its first five-year Undergraduate law programme in August 2014. The programme will have a strong management flavour.
