Prof. Jonchhe is recipient of the Outstanding Research Activities Award from SUNY, Colleges of Technology, and Research Council. It was based on his applied research activities such as involvement in Gleasman Stepless Geared Transmission research, development & testing, Electric Car Research Project, Diesel fuel additives research, Ethanol blended fuels research, Biodiesel fuel analytical study, automotive emission research and investigation of hydraulic turbines.
Prof. Jonchhe has been very active with New York State
Engineering Technology Association (NYSETA) for the last 25 years. He has hosted
NYSETA meeting at Alfred State College in the year of 2007 with the key

assignments in 1996-97 as
Professor/Consultant Institute of Technology Tun Hussein Onn(ITTHO)
Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia through Alfred
State College under contract from MUCIA (Midwestern Universities Consortium In
America) led by Purdue University with World Bank funding. The assignment
involved teaching, laboratory and curriculum development which also proved to
be a great professional development and scholarly activity.
Currently, Prof. Jonchhe is directly involved in teaching and research work at
Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kathmandu
University where he is teaching
Engineering Mechanics for undergraduate students and Internal Combustion Engine
for graduate students. He has strong enthusiasm to develop applied research in
the field of bio based energy such as Bio fuel at Kathmandu
University during his stay in Nepal.
The department of Mechanical Engineering at Kathmandu
University feels greatly privileged
and honored to host such distinguished personalities from US academia.
Last year, Prof. Rama S. Gorla from Cleveland State University made significant contribution to this department under same program, which eventually brought fruitful collaboration between Kathmandu University and Cleveland State University through Memorandum of understanding signed by both the Universities.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering highly appreciates the support and trust extended to this department by US Government, Fulbright commission and the citizen of United States of America.
